Term Project
This course is also project-based course. Students will be assigned a real engineering problem. They need to analyze the needs from the users, propose a solution, and finally prototype a visualization tool for solving the engineering problem. Multiple project reviews are designed to help students complete work. In the end of the semester, students need to demonstrate their solutions to outside reviewers and produce a short video to introduce their project.
Students are expected to develop a research level project while taking the class. Two or three students need to work together as a team. They need to define the research problem first by interviewing the assigned researchers. The second step is to collect the data or find the data set collected by previous researchers and then prototype the presentation of the data set. The third step is to identify an appropriate visualization tool to visualize the data and use the visualization to explain or answer the research problem. Finally students need to write down the entire research process using the format of academic conference paper (3000 words with multiple beautiful visualizations).

研究專題
本課程是研究型的課程,學生將在課堂上被分派實際的工程資訊的問題,學生需要透過訪談、腦力激盪,提出解決方案,並利用課堂所學習的知識以及工具,實作出解決方案,期末將以實機展示的形式,外聘各領域的專家評分。目前可能的專題題目包含:系集預報降雨資訊的呈現、動態淹水潛勢資訊呈現、歷史水利災害事件呈現、建築資訊模型資料呈現、土石流資料呈現等。
